2008 To Do List w/ a little CANDY !!!!

I've waited to post my thoughts on my New Year's Resolution until I had adequate time to contemplate what my resolution would be (if any)..... As a New Year comes and we sit back and reminisce on the year gone past many of us make our New Year Resolution (which usually lasts for about 28 minutes...) This year I really want to make it stick and have my resolutions be things that would I could do to change me for the better. So rather than calling them resolutions I've decided to call it my 2008 TO DO list. I've kept my list short and 'hopefully' attainable..

The first thing I plan to do is loose over 100 lbs. Unless you've ever had a weight problem you will never know how it feels trapped inside your own body. To attain this goal I have a plan in place which includes a wonderful support group of friends, family, a fabulous dr. and his support staff. So keep watching for a smaller me..

The 2nd thing I plan to do may seem like a little thing but I think it will have a BIG impact... It is to say "HELLO" to at least 1 stranger every day. How often do we walk through our office, through the mall, grocery store, airport ect. and the people you pass are in their own little bubble. Occasionally we catch someones eye and quickly look away. Check out the expressions on their face when rather than looking away and continuing on your way you look them right in the eye and say HELLO without expecting anything in return.

And finally, along the same lines as my 2nd to do is to pay it forward on a regular basis. This may be as simple as paying for the person's coffee behind me in line at Starbucks, sending out a few of those extra cards I continually make or simply handing the homeless man on the corner a few dollars when he's standing there with his 'will work for food' sign.. To me these are just 3 ways to make me a better person..

So now that it's in writing and I'm accountable to myself how about a little blog candy... To win is very easy.... simply do something to make yourself a better person. Please post a comment here with something you've done or plan to do to better yourself (and by the way.. you won't be tested so there is no wrong or stupid answers).... :) You have until Wednesday 1/9/08 at NOON to post your comment. I will then use the random # generator to select a winner... What will you win... Well, how about... a

~ 5x7 calendar (handmade by me)
~ Friends Memo Cube (handmade by me) and a
~ Memories Made Easy 4x4 Scrapbook Kit containing over 300 pieces (not made by me... LOL)....

To check out all of the pages from the 2008 calendar please check out this post.. Good luck everyone..

Happy Stamping :)

Wow, I get to be first?

I plan on getting back control over my bags & bags of paperwork which would then enable me to get back to recording all the entries in my checkbook that I've neglected over the past 2 years. Then once this is done, I can tackle my home desk piles and actually use it for stamping instead of the kitchen table.

I keep telling everyone to "Make it Great in '08" and I hope to do my best to live up to that saying.

Happy New Year! Good luck with your resolutions as I know how you feel since I still need to loose another 40 lbs as I weigh as much as I did just before I delivered my 2 children and I'm not even pregnant.

Wow - you have great goals!! I also need to lost a little (a lot) of weight, and it's funny you mentioned paying for someone's coffee at Starbucks - I did that yesterday! And it's downright fun!! The chick taking my money gave me a strange look but then she got it, said "great idea!" and wished me a great day. It just felt good all the way around!

I think the big thing is to be in control of me and mine instead of letting others screw up what I need to do. Too many demand my time and I just prefer being by myself a lot. the first step is turning my cell phone to vibrate and letting voice mail pick it up

It's always inspiring to read others resolutions, thanks for sharing yours. One of my goals is to do something creative every day, surf the blogs less and do more crafts!
I plan on calling old friends more often, and spending more time with my loved ones. I want to take a few minutes every day to appreciate who I am, who the people around me are and how lucky I am to know them; appreciate everyday the life that I have and the distance I have traveled to achieve it.
It's going to be a big year for me!

Hello! I will be donating over $1000 to the Crohn's and Colits Foundation this year. Since I'm a SAHM with no income, I plan on meeting my goal by not spending any money on crafts (except for adhesive) for an entire year, plus I'll be collecting donations from other people too. I've already got $240 donated!!
Thanks!

Hi Lisa,
You sound very commited & focused with your 'To Do' list so "you go girl"!! I've also made a commitment to lose some excess weight but not by dieting. Instead I want to make smarter food choices and to become more physically active. I love your blog & visit it daily for inspiration. TFS. Sheila

Love your goals! I need to lose quite a bit of weight myself but I've only been on the eliptical 2 times since the year started - not good. My goal it to mind my own business! I tend to get stuck in other people's problems and then put more work onto myself because of it. I'm going to mind my own business from now on!

Mmmm-mmmm-mmmm. What really great blog candy, and all I have to do to get a chance at winning it is let you know how I am planning on improving myself? That's gotta be the ultimate win/win! YOU ROCK!
I am planning on eating healthier. I refuse to say I am going to diet cause that is just setting myself up for disaster so I am going to eat healthier. Eat out less, choose baked over fried when I do eat out...you know! Thanks again for the opportunity at AWESOME candy!

I LOVE your idea of doing something completely unexpected for someone else. I am going to do that!!! Thank you for the idea!

Your list sounds great! I need to lose a LOT of weight too, more than you! It may take awhile, but I do want to do it...without surgery. Surgery scares me...
Have a wonderful 2008! And best wishes accomplishing all your goals! :D

I'm trying to do something nice for someone each day, anonymously if I can. It might just be putting the newspaper up next to the door of an elderly neighbor, just little uplifting things for other folks.

Best of luck on your goal for 2008. Give yourself time to achieve that goal and don't become frustrated if you need more than 1 year to achieve it.

I posted my goals at my new blog a day or two ago; oops, short-term memory loss. :) I too want to improve my health and so want to continue to walk as frequently as my schedule will allow.

Best wishes.

I LOVE your goals and am inspired by them. My goal is to follow through with my attempts to send out cards to others. I find I am such a perfectionist that I make cards then never send them out because there might be a flaw. I just want to send them to people who are sick and homebound or that need encouragement. I've got to get over the idea that people will critique my work and not just appreciate being thought of. I need to remember-thoughts don't count if I don't follow up with my actions.

I too plan on losing weight. To get to my goal which is to lose 80 pounds. This is what i have gained since I got married. I plan on walking 2 miles 5 days a week. I also want to stop bringing chips in the house. This is my downfall. I love chips. I also want to start sharing my cards more. I give to family and church members, but I want to start mailing them to different group members. Thanks for the great candy. I love all you share with us. Thanks again. Mary

Congratulations Lisa! I'm right there with you on the weight loss road and if you want an email buddy, let me know cause I'd love one too.
One of the ways I hope to help people in some way is to make more cards for the cardsforheroes.org project. The cards get sent to the troops in Iraq and they get to pick out what they need and send them to their loved ones back home so everyone benefits.

I plan and hope to get control of my crafting purchases. I don't have all that much to spend and there's other stuff that I need that is not crafting related. Hopefully I'd be able to do better at it this year then I did last year.

What an inspiration you are! I love the pay it forward ideas. I have always thought about paying for someone elses dinner or groceries I have just never done it. I would like to better someones day and put a smile on their face by doing something like that this year. I am also on a plan to lose 50pounds (or close to it) by the time my daughter graduates in June. I don't want to set myself up for failure so I am not expecting the full 50 pounds, 30 would be a great start.

Thank you so much for all your wonderful ideas and inspiration. I love your blog.

Crossing my fingers for your wonderful blog candy. Have a fabulous 2008!

I wish you all the best in your resolutions. One resolution which would help me to be a better person, is to manage my time better. I honestly spend too much time online, there are just too many good places (stamping places) to see. So, I guess I should leave now.
Happy New Year!

I don't make resolutions either. It seems that diet and excersie are always at the top of the list anyway, so why don't I just do something about it! I do know what it is like to be trapped in your own body and not be able to do the things you used to do or want to do. It is a real battle! I am going to find a water arobics class in January so I can start out slow and not have a lot of pain.

Good Luck to you Lisa! The latter 2 items on your to do list will keep your spirits up and help to achieve that weight goal! Can't wait to see pictures of your success!

I not only want to lose weight...I want to become a healthier me. I know I am capable of reaching my goal of dropping 50 pounds, but I want to do it in a manner in which I will be able to maintain it once I get there: less eating out, more veggies with each meal, etc.

LET'S STICK TO IT!
